Bust of Dioniso is part of the Ancient Gods series, in which Filippo Tincolini brings the deities of myth into dialogue with the heroes of the contemporary imagination. Dionysus, god of the mask, of intoxication and metamorphosis, is the figure that more than any other embodies dual identity: face and mask, man and god, order and frenzy. The bust presents him as a fragment surfaced from time, in which classical features coexist with the signs of an iconography that belongs to the present.
Carved in white Carrara marble and patinated, the face holds the light in its worked surfaces, between polished passages and deliberate breaks, like a relic that time has worn without extinguishing its presence.
