Pietà: Teatro Era, Pontedera
PIETÀ: A CIVIL SILENCE
From April 4 to 7, 2026, the Teatro Era in Pontedera hosted “Pietà”, an artistic and cultural project intertwining contemporary art, theater, and photography in a civil reflection promoted by the Municipality and the Fondazione Pontedera Cultura, based on a concept by Federico Quaranta and Filippo Tincolini.
The project stems from a fundamental question: “Is it possible that we are no longer capable of feeling pity?”. This question, which emerged from the dramatic events of our time and is shared by Andrea Pezzi and Laura Veschi, seeks to explore a human sensitivity that seems lost in the noise of the contemporary world.
At the heart of the event is the marble sculpture by Filippo Tincolini, inspired by Mohammed Salem’s photograph (World Press Photo of the Year 2024). The sculpture, portraying the dignified grief of a woman in Khan Younis, invites viewers to pause and reflect, carrying a universal message: human life deserves respect, always.
