WUNDERKAMMER²
"A good practice preliminary to any other is the practice of wonder. Training oneself not to know and to marvel."
— Chandra Livia Candiani
Wunderkammer² stems from an intuition by Alberto Franchi: a tribute to marble and the Apuan Alps where the quarry becomes a cultural space and a viewing device. The journey begins at LITIX spa with sculptures by Luciano Massari, inviting visitors to slow down before entering the heart of the mountain.
April 19 marks a historic milestone: the ROBOTOR ONE-SPECIAL robot works live on the quarry wall to reveal Spiritus Montis by Filippo Tincolini. A female figure in a fetal position inhabiting the stone with serenity—an intervention where robotic technology becomes the artist's extended hand to read the mountain's geological time.
The event features major protagonists: Michelangelo Pistoletto with The Reintegrated Apple, a symbol of the Third Paradise; Laura Veschi with the photographic installation Anatomy of Wonder; and Giuseppe Veneziano with the sculpture White Slave.
The evening of April 20 culminates in the Candlelight Quarry Concert: four thousand candles by Martinelli Luce illuminate the galleries for the performance by Giuseppe Califano. An experience envisioned by Franchi Umberto Marmi to establish the quarry as a place where matter becomes the origin of the narrative.
