An opening toward the future for those who courageously chose to continue living in the heart of the historic center.
Fire and ResilienceOn July 29, 2023, a photography exhibition was inaugurated, symbolically representing a new beginning. The narrative retraces the fire of July 29, 1983, through images of the palace consumed by flames, where only a few elements were spared. These are "empty" photographs, yet they restore the former magnificence of what the palace once was.
But the fire that destroyed the historic center did not destroy the spirit of its inhabitants. The photographs of "resilience" seek out the people in their most intimate places, where memories and traditions have remained steadfast over the years.
It is a journey that emerges into that maze of narrow streets and alleys, where the laughter of playing children once again echoes through the historic center, and where one encounters the smiles of its newest residents.
